Microsoft to kill the Expression brand of software

Microsoft will shut down the Expression brand of commercial software that was used to develop websites, & applications. This includes Expression Studio, Expression Studio Ultimate, Expression Studio Web, Expression Design, Expression Design Web, Expression Encoder, Expression Blend, etc.


Microsoft will extend mainstream support for these products till 2015 and Extended Support till 2020.

In support of the industry trends Microsoft is consolidating our lead design and development offerings — Expression and Visual Studio — to offer all of our customers a unified solution that brings together the best of Web and modern development patterns, says Microsoft.

Expression Encoder 4 Pro will be available for purchase through 2013. Expression Encoder 4, Expression Design 4 and Expression Web 4 are now available as a free download. Expression Studio 4 Ultimate and Expression Studio 4 Web Professional are no longer available for sale. Blend will be fully integrated with Visual Studio 2012.
