ROGER DUNNING WROTE: After announcing the iPhone app, Flickr just unveiled the wraps off the Android app which is now available on the Google Play Store.

MY RESPONSE: Oy! Mixing metaphors. One can unveil something; or one can take the wraps off something, but one cannot "unveil the wraps" of or off of something. To so write or say is to mix two metaphors.

The sentence should have been either:

"After first announcing the iPhone app, Flickr just unveiled the Android app which is now available on the Google Play Store."

- OR -

"After first announcing the iPhone app, Flickr just took the wraps off the Android app which is now available on the Google Play Store."

Pick only one.

And note how my addition of the word "first," before the word "announcing," makes even MORE sense.

If I may even further refine: Grammatically speaking, an app can't be "on" the Google Play Store. It can only be "in" it, because, after all, it's a store. The only way that the word "on" could be used in that sentence would be to say that the app is "on the Google Play Store website." The word "website" is needed in order to make the word "on," and not "in".

This website, I tell you (and I've long said), needs a copy editor!
