While I somewhat agree on the overly litigious culture, all lawsuits do not automatically fall into the category of useless or needless by default. I wonder if you would feel the same if your business or if you personally could not perform your job for days as a result of a forced OS upgrade. What other options were available for the user? Why did they not have the option to prevent the forced upgrade?

They should not force upgrades upon end-users. Period. There is no consideration for the impact on end-users with slow internet speeds or wireless data plans. The Windows 10 updates afterwards also create the same problem for some users due to their size. The fact that they boast the widespread acceptance and implementation of Windows 10 after force-feeding it to their customers is very unethical to say the least. I guess the numbers look good to the board. Good luck.

Really, Dan? You must work for Infosys. If you live in the US, then maybe you should go back to your third-world crap-hole.... and I bet you smell bad. When Trump gets in, you get sent back home.

In USA, so many threaten to sue literally anyone, anything, like Courts should be used as badger gamers; usually "soft" targets, such as Microsoft here, are favored by lawyers over literally all other cases...why work, when you can file as you say a suit that can be settled for less than prolonged pro-forma routine Court motions and appeals? If there were merit to the issue of hardly uncommon end-of-life OS, and well-publicized free upgrades to the next OS version, there would be a rush of USA law firms filing for class action (really big fees!); likely reality is that legal grounds are so flimsy most lawyers won't accept a "do I feel lucky?" proposition which may be forced to trial and dismissal/loss.
