Indians are not known for ensuring the safety of their data. According to a new survey, 45 percent of Indians do not back up their data and files, and it only means one thing: You stand a risk of permanently losing your data and files should they be deleted. That’s why it’s important that you back up your data and files.
Cybersecurity company Avast conducted an online survey among 728 Avast and AVG users between February 20 and March 25, 2020. It brings our attention to many important aspects such as why Indians don’t back up their data and the consequences of failing to back up.
Why Indians don’t back up their data?
As per the survey, 34 percent of Indians claim they don’t have any data, which is important enough to back up. 32 percent of Indians don’t know how to back up their data. While 22 percent of Indians often forget to back up their data and files, the remaining 22 percent of Indians say they don’t have time to back up their data.
55 % of Indians still back up their data
Not all Indians are negligent when it comes to ensuring the back up of their data and files. The survey finds nearly 42 percent of Indians back up their data and files to cloud storage while 36 percent of Indians back up their data to an external hard drive, followed by 23 percent a USB flash disk, 18 percent to PC, and 10 percent to a network storage drive.
Luis Corrons, Security Evangelist at Avast, had this to say:
“Losing personal documents, photos and videos can be a painful experience and it’s not until this happens that they realize how valuable it actually is”
“It’s important to back up data on a regular basis, keeping memories, captured in the form of photos and videos, safe and secure.”
How often Indians back up their data?
53 percent of respondents claim they back up data at least once every month, followed by 15 percent who back up data every six to twelve months, 12 percent who continuously back up their data, 12 percent who back up data every one to six months, and 7 percent Indians who back up data less often than yearly.
