Available in beta, Microsoft has announced the launch of an all-new Xbox app for Android phones and tablets. Previously, folks at Microsoft’s gaming division revealed their plans to find a way around unifying Xbox experience across devices. The new Xbox app is meant to take that vision to a whole new level. Let’s take a look at what the new Xbox app for Android is all about, shall we?
New Xbox app for Android
For the past several months, Microsoft has been working to enable Xbox gamers to stay connected to their communities, friends, and of course, games. As part of that plan, the Xbox division has come up with a lot of interesting and exciting things so far.
“The new Xbox app (Beta) has been rewritten from the ground up making it easier for all gamers to stay connected to your friends, games and fun at home or on the go, no matter what device they prefer to play on. Your friends and parties can stay with you via voice and text chat, even if they’re on console or PC,” said Kristen Mann, Principal Program Manager, Xbox Experiences.
Features of the new Xbox app for Android
- Notifications for instant updates
- Xbox Party & Chat on the go
- Share your favorite gaming moments
- Profile highlights, Search
- Stay connected to your console
- Xbox remote play
Thanks to its notification inbox, the new Xbox app allows users to handle notifications for new party invites, messages, and more. There’s a new share feature that allows Xbox users to easily share game clips and screenshots from their console to social media websites.
Last but not least, Microsoft unlocks the power of Xbox remote play, courtesy of the new app. As a result, an ability to play Xbox console games on Android is no longer limited to Xbox Insiders. Microsoft is making the new Xbox app (beta) available to all Xbox supported markets.
The free Xbox app (beta) is available for download via Google Play Store.
