Microsoft has introduced Scout, a new always-on personal AI agent for Microsoft 365. It falls under a new category of AI agents known as Autopilots. These Autopilots can work autonomously with their own identity and act on the users’ behalf. This article covers important highlights of Microsoft Scout.

Microsoft Scout is an always-on Personal AI Agent for Microsoft 365
Microsoft Scout is an always-on Autopilot integrated across Microsoft 365 apps you use every day. Unlike traditional AI assistants that respond only when prompted, Scout stays active in the background and understands how work gets done across your apps and systems.
Have a look at some of the features of Microsoft Scout:
- Deeply integrated in Microsoft 365: Microsoft Scout works across all your Microsoft 365 apps, including Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Connects all your data: It connects all your data, including chats, email, calendars, and contacts, in one place, making it easier for you to stay organized and productive.
- Ease of use: You can interact with it in Teams, web browsers, and other local resources available on your system.
Microsoft Scout helps reduce coordination work by automating routine processes, such as scheduling and coordinating meeting times across time zones, flagging important meetings, and more.
Enterprise-grade security
Microsoft Scout strictly follows all policies set by you and your organization, built on enterprise-grade security and powered by OpenClaw open-source technology to meet expanding enterprise needs. Instead of anonymous service accounts, every AI agent operates under its own trackable Entra identity, making all actions fully accountable. All the credentials in an identity are protected end-to-end. This lets you know whose authority is carried and that no sensitive information is leaked. Furthermore, agents can only access approved resources. Sensitive actions will always require human approval before the agents proceed with their work. Scout does not bypass the controls and protections configured by your organization.
As organizations continue to shift towards AI-driven automation, Scout could become a valuable tool for businesses that rely on Microsoft 365 for communication, collaboration, and productivity. For more details, you can read Microsoft’s official blog post.
