After all the hard work, its accolade time. And the fruits of hard work are definitely sweet. Microsoft got to taste such sweets recently at the International Design Excellence Awards 2011 where it scooped 7 awards handed over by the Industrial Designers Society of America.
Considered as the ‘Oscars‘ of design industries, the International Design Excellence Awards(IDEA) are judged by a panel of 20 experts from various backgrounds in design consultancies, corporations and universities etc.
Here are the Microsoft products which won awards at the IDEA 2011:
Windows Phone 7 – Won a Gold in the category of Interactive Product Experiences
Windows Phone 7 – Won a Silver in the Research category
Windows Phone 7 – Won a Bronze in Design Strategy. Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse – Won a gold in Computer Equipment category.
Microsoft KIN – This Microsoft’s failed teen-phone project managed to win two design awards, one in the
packaging sector while another in the area of communication.
Microsoft Research Technology Heirlooms – This Microsoft’s Research project into storing digital memories
scooped an award too.
A special mention to the Microsoft KIN project which won two design awards, which was later dismantled and stopped due to severe criticism in the industry over its features and pricing.
As for now, its SHOWTIME for Microsoft!
