Microsoft Surface community forum lately has become a busy place for reporting issues related to a firmware updates. The Windows Update has become a cause of problem for many! It is refusing to load successfully to Surface devices and even turning reluctant to search for updates.
In short, Windows Update stops working! A member of the community wrote –
Cannot access the windows store or windows update periodically since the latest patch. I did a refresh, then it worked. Then overnight, it stopped working again, and restart gets it working again.
[1/17/2013 update] – windows update does not connect again from metro ui, or desktop, nor does store. Restart gets it working again.
Although, reboot sometimes fixes the issue, the problem recurs. Apart from the update issue, users are also experiencing problems with the standard app updates. This gives us the impression that the two problems highlighted above problem could be part of the same issue or may be 2 different bugs from the same source.
Microsoft officials haven’t responded yet since, they are taking a holiday. Meanwhile, Steven_B, who is the Forum moderator and a Surface Support Engineer assured Surface owners and the members of the community, experiencing the problem by posting the following statement there –
We’re taking a look into this. Please be patient while we check to see what is happening.” Let’s see what they find.
Whatever the case is, we would like to see the problem being fixed as soon as possible.
