Microsoft’s Skype division via Skype blog has finally confirmed that they are getting the Messenger and Skype service together for offering Skype users a better experience. Millions of Messenger users will now have the chance of reaching their Messenger friends on Skype. However, at first, they will need to update to Skype using a Microsoft account.
Messenger and Skype Merge together
Upgrading will help them communicate in many flexible ways, and be connected on more devices and platforms including Windows, Mac, iOS, Windows Phone, Android and soon Blackberry too. Already 280 million people use Skype to connect with their loved ones, laugh, and gossip and share stories. With the coming of Windows Live Messenger together this magical number is estimated to rise by many folds.
Messenger users can instant message and video call their Messenger friends. They will just need to upgrade to the latest version of Skype and sign in using a Microsoft account. Their Messenger contacts will automatically be seen there.
The upgrade from Messenger to Skype on Windows desktop will start April 8 onwards. The process may take few weeks to complete. Upgrades will begin with English language clients, and finish up with Brazilian Portuguese by April 30 or later.
Skype encourages people to use the Messenger service and have a positive experience. It also urges users to download Skype on their mobile devices, and sign in with their Microsoft account to check out all that Skype has to offer.
