Imagine the count of visitors that Facebook attracts every day. More the traffic, increased is the chances of many getting affected by threats such as malware. This Tuesday, Facebook informed that it has added anti-malware software to its abuse detection and prevention systems to help out users with suspicious or infected systems. It has tied up with F-Secure and Trend Micro to help people to protect their devices
Member of Facebook’s Site Integrity team, Chetan Gowda, mentioned in a blog post,
“Our goal is to make it easier for people to find and use the right technology to better protect their devices. We’ve worked with F-Secure and Trend Micro to incorporate free anti-malware software downloads directly into our existing abuse detection and prevention systems.”
So if you think your system might be affected by a malware then simply note down these steps:
- Once you log, you will receive a notification on your screen about a malware infection and along with that a recommendation to use F-Secure’s malware scanning and cleanup technology or HouseCall from Trend Micro. The best part is that these are free up-to-date versions and once they are done, they get removed by themselves only.
- Even if you are running the scanner, you can use Facebook and other services. You will get the result once the scanning is done.
- By chance if you skip the malware removal process, you will still get the malware removing the notification later.
So it’s very nice for you if you are a Facebook user because the company is providing free security tools and you can look forward for more in the future as Facebook said,
“We expect to offer additional software options in the future”.
