Microsoft Edge delivers 17%-70% more battery life than the popular web browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox, says Microsoft. After conducting a series of tests, Microsoft proved that Edge is power efficient web browser and lets you browser longer without any specific battery saving mode or settings.
To test the power consumption, all the web browsers Microsoft Edge and other popular web browsers were automated to perform same series of activities like browsing web, watching videos, opening new tabs and scrolling through articles. Microsoft used a specialized power monitoring equipment to test the power efficiency of the browsers.
Microsoft Edge – Power Efficient Web Browser
Microsoft conducted two tests to check the power consumption of Edge: the first test was to measure power consumption of browsers while browsing the popular website whereas the second test was about power consumption while streaming the HD videos.
Google Chrome consumed the most power lasted for 4 hours and 19 minutes while streaming videos, whereas Edge proved to be power efficient by lasting for 7 hours and 22 minutes. The browsing test was taken while social networking and browsing on websites like Facebook, Google, YouTube, Amazon, and Wikipedia where Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 was proved to deliver 36%-53% more battery life than other popular browsers.

“For these browsing activities, our tests show Microsoft Edge is a more energy efficient browser on Windows 10, with up to 36%-53% more battery life to get what you need done —whether you’re studying at the library, researching dream vacation destinations, or checking in with your friends on social networks”, writes Jason Weber, director at Web Platform Team, Microsoft Edge. “We streamed the same high-definition video wirelessly on each device and set up a video camera to record the laptops until each one died, noting the time when each device stopped playing”. He further added.
