The Windows Phone app store finally received a boost today with some high-profile apps like Xfinity TV, ABC News, Voxer, Walgreens, and MarketWatch. Microsoft however is paying around $100,000 to the developers’ team for developing more Windows Phone apps but it’s going to be a challenge for Windows Phone store because it is still not even close to the Android and iPhone store.
The Windows Phone 8 Store has around 100,000 apps which still lacks much behind the Android apps stores and iStore having around 700,00 apps. Microsoft however is now focused on developing more of such high-profile apps for Windows Phone store.
XFINITY TV Remote app
Download XFINITY TV Remote and control the world of entertainment from your Windows Phone 8. Using this new high-class app, you can control your TV, browse program listing and even schedule automatic recordings of your favorite TV program with your Windows Phone.
ABC News
You can now view latest articles, slideshows, and live video from ABC News on your Windows phone with their new ABC News app. You can also pin your favorite shows and sections on the live tiles of your Windows Phone to get an easy access. Furthermore, this app also allows users to share the news via SMS, Twitter, Facebook, Email or Tap+Send.
Voxer
The popular messaging service Voxer has now landed in the Windows Phone store and is available for public download for Windows Phone 8 devices. Similar to other push-to-talk apps Voxer allows sending live audio clips to everyone in your Voxer contact list.
The Voxer audio clip can moreover be stored as a mini voicemail and users can listen to it anytime according to their convenience. You can also send pictures and text through Voxer and it also let you share your location with your Voxer friends. The Windows 8 live tiles interface notify you when there is a new message on your Voxer.
Wallgreens
Wallgreens is the nation’s largest drugstore chain and the new Walgreens app for Windows Phone 8 lets the users to track and reorder their prescriptions. Users can also scan the barcode of their prescription bottle using Wallgreens Windows Phone app and get the instant medication refills. Users can create the shortcuts on their Windows Phone’s live tiles. The app also includes phone’s own wallet and speech capabilities. Refill prescriptions faster, print your mobile photos and pick-up in about an hour are some of the notable features of this new app in Windows Phone store.
MarketWatch
Get real-time finance and business news and market data with the new MarketWatch app on your Windows Phone 8. Other features of MarketWatch include- detailed stock quote pages with key trading information and charts and speech recognition for hand free listening.
With an accomplished developer team at Microsoft, the Windows Phone app store is getting better; as earlier this year Microsoft announced two prominent apps like Pandora and Hulu.
