A web infrastructure company Cloudflare continues to offer new services. After introducing Cloudflare Radar and Cloudflare Web Analytics, the company has introduced its Automatic Platform Optimization (APO) service for WordPress, an open-source content management system (CMS).

WordPress happens to be the most popular CMS solution powering 38 percent of all websites.
“With the Automatic Platform Optimization service, we put your website into our network that is within 10 milliseconds of 99% of the Internet-connected population in the developed world, all without having to change your existing hosting provider,” said Garrett Galow, Director of Product at Cloudflare.
What is it that Cloudflare is trying to fix?
Cloudflare’s Automatic Platform Optimization for WordPress will fix site slowdown issues caused by shared hosting congestion, slow database lookups, or trouble with plugins.
According to Cloudflare, the Automatic Platform Optimization for WordPress reduces Time to First Byte (TTFB) by 72 percent.
Cloudflare promises a 72 percent reduction in Time to First Byte (TTFB), a 23 percent reduction to First Contentful Paint, and a 13 percent reduction in Speed Index for desktop users.
At times, running a consistently fast website is a difficult and complicated process, especially for businesses that don’t invest in maintenance and performance solutions for their due to financial concerns. This is something Cloudflare has been trying to address.
“Having a fast website doesn’t have to be complicated, though. The closer your content is to your customers, the better your site will perform,” Cloudflare added.
In addition to static content and files such as images, CSS, and JavaScript, Cloudflare’s Automatic Platform Optimization also performs dynamic content caching.
Cloudflare’s Automatic Platform Optimization service promises WordPress caching within 10 milliseconds irrespective of the hosting provider.
Getting started with Cloudflare’s Automatic Platform Optimization for WordPress
If you are a free customer, you will be required to purchase the service from the Cloudflare dashboard.
- Install the Cloudflare WordPress plugin on your WordPress version 3.8.2 or higher.
- Authenticate the plugin to connect to Cloudflare.
- Enable Automatic Platform Optimization.
Available for WordPress sites, Cloudflare’s Automatic Platform Optimization service costs $5/month for non-paying customers. The service is free for Cloudflare’s Professional, Business, and Enterprise customers with a WordPress website.
