Microsoft has released the Copilot Agent Functionality Diagnostic tool for Microsoft Teams to ensure that Copilot Agents run smoothly in Teams. This tool is useful for IT admins, support engineers, and adoption leads.

Copilot Agent Diagnostic tool for Teams
Copilot Agent Functionality Diagnostic is a powerful tool designed to identify and resolve the issues preventing Copilot agents from operating in Microsoft Teams. This includes validating eligibility, confirming service eligibility, and checking for configuration compliance.
For the Copilot Agents to function seamlessly in Microsoft Teams, the following prerequisites should be met:
- Whether the user is properly authenticated with Teams
- If a user has a valid Microsoft 365 Copilot license for Teams
- Whether the custom apps in preview are enabled
- If the Tenant app settings are configured correctly
If any of the prerequisites mentioned above are misconfigured, users may face errors, encounter limited functionality, or even lose access to Copilot features. The Copilot Agent Functionality Diagnostic test helps organizations address these issues early, so users’ experience will not be disrupted. To make the Copilot agents work smoothly in Teams, it also helps identify configuration gaps that may block agents’ functionality.
Who should use it?
This tool is designed for ITR admins, support engineers, and adoption management leads. However, only the users with a Global Administrator account can run this diagnostic.
IT admins can validate Teams settings, app configurations, and license prerequisites to ensure the smooth functionality of Copilot agents in Teams.
Support engineers can use this tool to troubleshoot Copilot agent issues related to the authentication, configuration, and feature availability.
Adoption and Change Management Leads can use it to confirm whether the Teams environment is properly prepared for users to engage with Copilot agents.
This tool is available through Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer and will help IT administrators and support teams reduce disruptions and errors for users.
