Download Windows Themes before they are retired by Microsoft
Many different themes are available on the official website of Microsoft for free. Microsoft has already announced that it is going to end support for Windows 10 in October 2025. PCs having Windows 10 will still work after the end of support but users will not get any software and security updates from Microsoft. That’s why, Microsoft recommends users shift to Windows 11.
Microsoft has announced that it will retire Windows Themes. The exact date of retirement has not been disclosed yet.
Currently, all Windows themes are available on the official website. You can download them before Microsoft retires them.
Windows Themes are available in different categories, including Animals, Art (illustrative), Art (photographic), Automotive, Games, Movies, Natural Wonders, Plants and flowers, Places and landscapes, and more. Some of these themes also have built-in sounds, which are listed under the Custom Sounds category.
Click on the theme you want to download. It will download as an installer file. Save the theme on your PC.
How to install Windows Themes
Installing these themes is easy. Double-click on the installer file and the theme will be installed within a few seconds. After installation, the theme will be available in Windows 11/10 Settings. These steps will guide you on this:
- Open Windows Settings.
- Go to Personalization > Themes.
- Click on the theme to apply it.
The desktop background changes by itself after a particular time. However, if you want, you can also change the desktop background manually. To do so, right-click on your desktop and select Next Desktop Background.
You can also see the theme details there, such as the number of images it has, color, mouse cursor type, etc. To delete a particular theme, go to the Themes page in Windows 11/10 Settings, right-click on the theme that you want to delete, and select Delete.
