Looks like Google has been slowly testing out a feature to few people. One of the users who experienced this has posted a video on this new search feature where, when you type the search query in the search box, Google updates relevant results below as you type the query.
This new search feature is rolled out only to few people. The user reported that while using this new feature, you don’t have to press Enter or click on the “Search” button to see the results because Google constantly retrieves the results for your query.
This is very similar to Keyboardr, a site that uses Google AJAX API to shows results as you type.
Another source says, “As soon as you start typing, Google shifts the search box to the top of the page, and displays ads to the right and distracting search results below.” And it also says that you can turn off this live streaming search feature just by clicking “Turn off streaming” next to the search box.
All these days Google has been giving us only suggestions for the search results, but now, if they do decide to implement this feature, they will start providing us with real time search results, as we type in letters.
Interestingly this feature is very similar to The Real Live Search, which uses Bing’s AJAX APIs to show results in real-time!
What do you think about this new feature ? Will it be helpful or annoying ?
