Microsoft confirmed that Meta Muse is coming to Windows 11 using MXC (Microsoft Execution Containers) integration. Microsoft announced this at a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco. No official release date has been disclosed yet. This post covers important highlights of this update.

Meta Muse is coming to Windows 11 using MXC Integration
Muse is an autonomous AI agent developed by Meta, launched on September 8, 2026. Unlike standard AI chatbots that only answer users’ prompts and draft text, Meta Muse can take direct actions on your behalf. It can answer questions, complete tasks, browse the web, make purchases, generate images, and create documents. You can also connect it to your favorite apps and services through Connectors. Now, Muse is officially coming to Windows 11 using MXC integration. Microsoft confirmed it will be available on Windows 11 as a native app, bringing another leading AI experience to Windows and giving users more choice in how they use AI agents on their Windows PCs.
What is MXC (Microsoft Execution Containers) integration?
Microsoft Execution Containers is a sandboxing environment developed by Microsoft that provides a secure environment to run AI agents. Traditional sandbox solutions were not designed for AI agents. They were primarily designed to isolate applications and processes with predefined security restrictions. However, AI agents can perform different tasks and use various tools depending on user prompts. That’s why Microsoft designed MXC to address this challenge.
This move by Microsoft is a broader effort to make Windows a platform where different AI agents can run alongside Copilot. Microsoft also disclosed that some of the leading agents already support MXC. These include Codex from OpenAI, GitHub Copilot, OpenClaw, Replit, LM Studio, OpenShell from NVIDIA, and Unsloth AI. Others, including Anthropic Claude Code, Hermes Agent by Nous Research, Manus, and Perplexity, are working on adding MXC support.
What remains unconfirmed?
Although the arrival of Meta Muse on Windows 11 with MXC integration has generated considerable excitement among users, several key details remain undisclosed. The following questions still need to be addressed:
- Official launch date: Neither Microsoft nor Meta has disclosed an official launch date for Meta Muse on Windows 11.
- System requirements: System requirements will let users know whether Meta Muse is compatible with their system’s hardware. Additionally, Microsoft has yet to clarify whether the app will work on all compatible Windows 11 devices or require specific hardware, such as a Copilot+ PC.
- How to download: Users also want to know how to download Meta Muse. It remains unclear whether it will be available on the Microsoft Store or as an executable file that will be downloaded from Meta’s official website.
For now, users have to wait for the next announcement from Microsoft or Meta to learn more about the Muse availability on Windows 11.
