Micromax has launched its first set of Windows Phone devices – Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 in India. Both of these smartphones powered by Windows Phone operating system are kept under the budget phone category.
With the launch of these budget smartphones, the second most popular smartphone OEM in India, Micromax, has become first Indian smartphone maker to bring Windows Phone devices.
“We are the first Indian brand to offer a product running on the new windows phone 8.1 OS,” said Sanjay Kapoor, executive chairman of Micromax”.
Micromax Canvas Win W121
Priced at 9,500 INR (158 USD) Micromax Canvas Win W121 boasts a big five-inch screen with an HD resolution. It has an 8 MP rear camera plus a 2MP secondary camera.
The Smartphone comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage capacity which is expandable to 32GB with memory card. Being the high-end Smartphone Canvas Win W121 is equipped with proximity, gravity, and light sensors, an accelerometer, and a leather finish back panel.
Micromax Canvas Win W092
With the price tag of 6,500 INR (108 USD) Canvas Win W092 is said to be the cheapest Smartphone based on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system.
The device sports a 4 inch screen with an IPS WVGA display. It has a 5 MP rear camera with a 0.3 MP secondary camera. The in-built storage of the device is 8GB which is expandable to 32GB with micro SD card.
Both Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092 are dual SIM phones and are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 1.2 GHz quad-core processor.
Ready to hit the market by July 2014, these Smartphones are made by Micromax in close alliance with Microsoft and Qualcomm.
Back in May 2014, Micromax had announced Microsoft as its hardware partner at the BUILD Conference in San Francisco.
