Commenting on the launch, Vineet Taneja, CEO, Micromax, said,
“Today’s launch marks our entry into the PC segment, where we intend to drive category growth and not only garner an available market share. Micromax Canvas Laptab
Device Configuration
The LapTab comes with a 9.2 mm sleek body weighing around 1.1 Kgs. This is almost 500gms more that its competitor, a Notion Ink Cain tab that weighs around 635 grams only. However, Canvas Laptab is still lighter than many of the standard laptops sold in the market today.
When it comes to connectivity Micromax has done well in providing an inbuilt SIM slot for 3G Data Access along with regular WiFi connectivity. A 3G Data SIM connectivity means that you don’t have to depend on a USB dongle for data access with this LapTab. The device also houses a Bluetooth 4.0, 2 USB Slots (1 Micro USB & 1 USB slot) and a 3.5mm Headphone-Out.
The Canvas LapTab has a decent processor in Intel’s 4th Gen Atom Quad Core 3735F (upto 1.83GHz). The memory slot has DDR3L 2GB RAM which is capable enough to run basic games. For video calling, the device has a 2-megapixel rear and front-facing camera and a 7700mAh battery, which Micromax says lasts upto 10 hours.
Micromax has built an inbuilt storage space of 32GB which can be further expanded via a MicroSD card. With current complimentary offer, buyers would also get 1TB of cloud storage on Microsoft’s OneDrive service.
OS / Apps
The Canvas LapTab runs on Windows 8.1 with preinstalled Office 365 license of 1 year. The LapTab shall also be freely upgradable to Windows 10 as in when the OS is launched by Microsoft.
Micromax phone devices have been received well by Indian users and recently Micromax became the #1 smartphone vendor in India outshining Samsung. With Canvas Laptab receiving good reviews, thanks to its competitive pricing and good specs this segment is sure to get more competitive in near future.
Micromax Canvas LapTab is available at a special sale price of Rs.14,999 at Amazon.in.
