Microsoft is ready for its next acquisition of this year. Xamarin Inc., a leading platform provider for mobile app development will be the next name in the list Microsoft’s procurements. With a focus to based software development tool maker.
Microsoft to acquire Xamarin
Found in 2011 Xamarin is used by over1.3 million unique developers to make mobile apps using C# Objective-C and Java. It has more than 15,000 customers worldwide. Mobile apps developers use Xamarin Test Cloud to test and improve the quality of their apps. Top gaming companies like Gummy Drop and SuperGiant Games and the leading enterprises like Coca-Cola bottling, Alaska Airlines, Honeywell, Thermo Fisher and JetBlue have been using Xamarin.
Microsoft has been in partnership with Xamarin since long and has conjointly built Xamarin integration into Office 365, Visual Studio, Enterprise Mobility Suite and Microsoft Azure thereby providing useful training tools and an endwise workflow to developers.
Scott Guthrie from Microsoft recently posted an official blog post saying,
“With today’s acquisition announcement we will be taking this work much further to make our world-class developer tools and services even better with deeper integration and seamless mobile app dev experiences. The combination of Xamarin, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Team Services, and Azure provides a complete mobile app dev solution that provides everything you need to develop, test, deliver and instrument mobile apps for every device. We are really excited to see what developers build with it”.
There are no financial details disclosed by either of the companies. Microsoft will be announcing their future plans with this acquisition during the Microsoft Build Conference and Xamarin Evolve by the end of April 2016. Xamarin Evolve is one of the largest cross-platform mobile events where Xamarin experts meet, discuss and define the future of mobile apps.
