Microsoft will release their fiscal year 2011 second-quarter results on January 27, 2011 via Live Webcast at the closing of the market. The results will not be released via news-wire.
What does this mean to the world? For starters it will show if Microsoft has made a huge impact for 2010 with Windows 7 popularity, the release of Office 2010, the new Xbox360, Kinect and Windows Phone 7.
So far Microsoft has been closed lipped on how successful Windows Phone 7 has been, only stating they are pleased with the results. So far results of Xbox360 and Kinect have been good for Microsoft especially with the release of the Kinect and the popularity it has gained with the computer based tech community.
Microsoft has been gaining ground the past year with successful launches back to back. The only failed attempt so far this year being the Kin phone, which Microsoft admittedly called a failure and has quickly redeemed themselves with a few new successful launches of new products.
What everyone including all the critics around the world is waiting on is to see the earnings for Windows Phone 7 and to see if Windows Phone 7 has a chance to compete in the Smartphone market.
Many critics have said that Microsoft joined the game too late, but the reality is, technology changes every day. What may be the hottest item today will eventually fade into the background like bag phones.
If you’re interested in watching the earnings results, the results will be broadcast via Live Webcast through the Microsoft Investor Relations Website.
