Microsoft make available Visual Studio Community Edition as a free download

After Microsoft announced its plans to open source the entire .NET framework to millions of developers across the globe, it has now made available Visual Studio Community 2013 Edition as a free download.

Visual Studio Community is a full-featured free IDE that will help you start coding apps for Windows, Android, and iOS devices.

It gives you almost all features originally in Visual Studio 2013 Pro. It is designed and optimized for individual developers, students, open source contributors, and small teams. It offers you extensions from the Visual Studio Gallery, that incorporate new languages, features, and development tools into this IDE.

The free version of VS includes Designers, editors, debuggers, profilers  tools, C++, Python, HTML5, JavaScript, C#, VB, and F# Languages, extensive web tooling for ASP.NET, Node.js, & JavaScript and Tools for Apache Cordova and Unity to reach even more platforms.

Once you have downloaded the free copy, you will have to go to the Tools menu > Extensions and Updates > Online > Visual Studio Gallery. Search for the desired extension, select it and click on Install.
