At Japan’s Windows 8 Dev Days, Microsoft President Steven Sinofsky announced that the near-final version of Windows 8, called Windows 8 Release Preview will be released in the first week of June 2012.
Building Windows 8 tweeted about the same and uploaded a photograph of Sinofsky making the announcement.
This “release candidate” or Release Preview version follows the release on the “beta” or Consumer Preview version. The final version of Windows 8 is expected to be released in the holiday season of 2012 – and no one will be surprised if this happens in October.
As mentioned earlier, Windows 8 will come in fewer versions than earlier releases of Windows viz. Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 RT – along with Enterprise and Emerging markets Editions.
