Microsoft has announced new Teams management features at the on-going Ignite 2020 event. These features fall under the Teams Admin Center, which allows admins to manage Microsoft Teams related activities for their teams. Microsoft wants to provide businesses with some management controls. These capabilities will help organizations identify the requirements of their business.
Teams Admin Center gets new features
There are several categories in the Teams Admin Center. Interestingly, new Teams management capabilities target all of these categories. First things first, Microsoft has added new bulk assignment capability under Teams management policies. These latest adding to the Teams Admin Center is supposed to make Teams management much more efficient. In its blog post, Microsoft wrote:
“Now we are bringing both policy assignment to groups and bulk policies assignment to Teams admin center. This bulk assignment operates asynchronously, meaning you can apply policy to large cohorts of users – up to 50K users, across the subscription from Teams & channels to Meetings to Voice & Calling.”
Microsoft has been working to streamline and automate apps integration into Teams for quite some time now. To achieve that, Microsoft has announced a series of new additions to Application management, as follows:
- Custom app submission API
- Share Apps from the Power platform
- Purchase licenses
- App Configuration
- Add or install the app to a team from Teams Admin Center
- App permissions, grant consent
- Custom app store branding
There have been additional changes to Calling management in Teams Admin Center. For instance, Teams is replacing Microsoft’s legacy PBX system with a cloud-based service. In addition to keeping existing carriers associated with Microsoft Teams, the Redmond-based company provides customers with speech-enabled auto attendant.
Teams Admin Center is also offering call queue capability for automated call handling, treatment, and distribution. Under Device management, Microsoft has added Teams Rooms and Teams Devices as additional categories to be managed in Teams Admin Center. What’s more, Microsoft Teams also enables Device management automatic alerting.
Recently, Microsoft announced the launch of the Teams Rooms Premium. Thanks to Microsoft Teams Rooms Managed Services, experts can handle room management and related operations on their customers’ behalf. Other changes include large event reporting and analytics improvements, call quality dashboard data enrichment and the availability of Advisor for Teams.
