You need both, intention and efforts to promote decentralization of data from servers to users. Presearch, a privacy-centric search engine is a start in this direction. It is a community-driven search engine built to offer a more engaging and less-cluttered search experience.
Presearch decentralized search engine
The new engine shows fewer advertisements, increasing the visibility of organic content. Plus, you don’t need to scroll anymore to get to the results you prefer seeing. It also protects your privacy by preventing any node from accessing and passing along your information, such as your IP address, your device and browser details as well your location.
The makers of the browser say, IP address of users is utilized by Presearch only to do the region reverse-lookup and is not be leaked to outsiders in any way.
We are slowly rolling the platform out to all users and transitioning people from Dsearch to Presearch Engine as the default engine over the course of the next two weeks, so if you do not have it set as your default yet, please bear with us, reads the description in the blog post.
Preserch will also reward you:

How is Presearch different from Dsearch?
The truly private search engine Presearch features a new local search option. It becomes visible as a globe icon when you search for something and the search returns with some results. Here, you can allow the search engine to use IP geolocalization to provide local search results for getting more accurate results.
In addition, it displays more recent content that may have just been created.
