Skype gets searchable Chats and SMS support
First things first, in order to check out the new features ensure that your Skype is updated to the version 11.13.133.0 and if its not then update from the Windows Store. Skype is seemingly better than its desktop variant and the app has a fresh appeal to it.
The Contacts layout has been simplified and Skype will now allow users to connect with the People app and let you stay in touch with your family and friends. The app will also populate the mutual contacts you have and this is aimed at helping users connect better. However one can also opt of this setting from the app.
Messaging option now comes with a better indexing option that lets users search for chats, shortcuts and also send SMS by using the usual Skype Credit.
Group video calling functionality has also been overhauled and aims at close knitting the experience further. While calling users can also switch microphone, camera all without disconnecting the call.
The performance and the stability of the app has also been improved greatly and voice translation from calls to mobile and landlines can also be accessed with a Skype Translator.
This update will also support drag and drop of file up to 300MB and the preview will be shown in the form of a shared URL. Another mention-worthy feature is the ability to quote the message so that individuals can be addressed.
