Emoji Picker updated with new features, design
Microsoft is all set to greet Windows 10 users with some exciting changes in the coming weeks. And thanks to the latest Insider Preview Build, we already know what these changes are going to be all about. Having said that, Microsoft has announced the availability of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20206 for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel.
“We are delivering a set of input features to Insiders that are designed to meet our customers where they are and letting them express themselves how they see fit in Windows,” said Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager at Microsoft. “Our goal is to make Windows even better at helping our customers communicate using text and voice on their devices.”
Over the last several years, Microsoft has added the Emoji Picker panel with the support for more emojis, languages, kaomoji, and symbols. Plus, Windows 10 already allows users to manage their clipboard history. Microsoft is set to bundle all these features into a single, standalone experience in Windows 10’s emoji picker, which is now also introducing easy access to animated GIFs.
A redesigned Emoji Picker in Windows 10 is now based on Microsoft’s Fluent Design. As you can see, it now also features a new acrylic background. Windows 10 makes it easier for users to search emojis using supported languages. As a result, the most-recent Insider Preview Build brings an inline search box to Emoji Picker in the Windows 10 operating system.
Windows 10 is set to receive a built-in GIF search feature powered by Tenor. Using WIN + [.] and WIN + [;] shortcuts will allow users to search for animated GIFs.
Microsoft says the selection of animated GIFs will continue to update based on trending #hashtags and social media trends. The feature is also likely to see some AI integration in the near future.
