Earlier, only some software products of Microsoft such as Office were available via the subscription model. Later, the courtesy was also extended towards Windows OS that was a part of a subscription-based service for enterprise customers. The same subscription scheme has now been announced for customers with Windows subscriptions via the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program. Beginning today, customers with Windows subscriptions via the Cloud Solution Provider Program can get Windows 10 Upgrade for free.
Free Windows 10 Upgrade for Cloud Solution Provider Program
This hints, customers subscribed to Windows 10 Enterprise E3 and E5 as well as Secure Productive Enterprise E3 and E5, can now upgrade their machines running on the earlier version of Windows like Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs to Windows 10 without having to purchase separate upgrade licenses.
The Windows 10 upgrade licenses issued as part of this process are perpetual and associated with the device. This means the license will not expire or be revoked if the customer chooses to end their Windows cloud subscription in the CSP program”, mentions Windows Blog.
Microsoft had earlier introduced Windows Enterprise plans (Windows 10 Enterprise E3 and Windows 10 Enterprise E5) directly via its volume licensing program and through its CSP partners. The program was largely aimed at serving the company’s small/mid-size business customers.
Additional subscription models were made available as Secure Productive Enterprise E3 and E5 that included,
- Enterprise Mobility + Security suite
- Office 365
- Windows 10 Enterprise
The newly rolled out scheme appears as an important benefit addition to Windows cloud subscriptions in CSP as it enables customers who have not yet switched to Windows 10, or missed the free upgrade to readily join the Windows 10 campaign and avail of enterprise-grade security benefits at no additional cost.
