Recently, Microsoft released cumulative security updates for all supported versions of the Windows 10 version operating system including version 2004 (KB4579311). Although these updates are designed to enhance the OS security when using Microsoft Office products and performing basic operations, Microsoft has warned that the update might cause an error installing third-party drivers.
Installing KB4579311 may show warnings
The update also brings cumulative changes to username and password verification. Microsoft has warned that when installing a third-party driver, Windows 10 users might receive the following error:
“Windows can’t verify the publisher of this driver software.”
What’s more, Windows 10 users might also come across another error when trying to view the signature properties with the help of Windows Explorer:
Affected Windows 10 users are advised to contact the driver vendor or device manufacturer (OEM). You need to ask the driver vendor for an updated driver to fix the issue.
“This issue occurs when an improperly formatted catalog file is identified during validation by Windows. Starting with this release, Windows will require the validity of DER encoded PKCS#7 content in catalog files. Catalogs files must be signed per section 11.6 of describing DER-encoding for SET OF members in X.690,” Microsoft said.

This security update not only addresses an issue with a possible elevation of privilege in win32k but it also addresses a Group Policy service issue, when a policy has been configured to delete cached profiles.
This issue might recursively delete critical files from %systemroot%\system32 and cause stop error “0x5A (CRITICAL_SERVICE_FAILED)” boot failures.
The Windows 10 update also fixes an issue with creating null ports using the user interface. What’s more, it also delivers security updates to Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Media, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Authentication, Windows Virtualization, and Windows Kernel.
Microsoft has delivered an update directly to the Windows Update client. Hence, you can manually download and install the update via Windows Update.
