In a recent video uploaded on Microsoft’s official YouTube channel, corporate vice president David Weston, also known as DWIZZZLE, shared the company’s bold vision for Windows by 2030. Weston predicted a major change in user interaction with technology could happen by 2030.

Expect a shift to AI-Powered UI by 2030
David Weston, who also leads Microsoft’s Penetration Testing team, believes that the traditional mouse-and-keyboard model will soon become obsolete to Gen Z and feel as outdated as MS DOS. Predicting a rise in multimodal interactions with machines, where communication will become more natural, Weston added:
I think we’ll do less with our eyes and more by talking to our computers. Future versions of Windows and other Microsoft operating systems will be multimodal—computers will see what we see, hear what we hear, and respond to much more sophisticated requests.
Since this shift is happening due to the growing role of AI, Weston believes that AI will become a part of our daily lives: “You will talk to them on Teams, they’ll join meetings, receive emails, and get assigned tasks.”
Microsoft’s vision for Cybersecurity by 2030
In the upcoming 5 years, Weston believes that most users will be able to hire a security expert that is none other than an AI Agent. Also, the way of interacting with these AI Security Agents will feel more human-like.
Weston also highlights how security will evolve in the next five years. Today, hiring a cybersecurity staff is out of reach for small and medium-sized businesses due to the high cost. In the future, AI Agents will eliminate this limitation by offering an affordable security solution for small and medium-scale businesses.
Weston also predicted the impact of quantum computing on security. Therefore, we need to prepare so that attackers will not get any advantage. That’s why Microsoft is implementing post-quantum and quantum-safe encryption in Windows.
At last, Weston gave some advice to users and encouraged them to adopt attack-proof strategies, such as going passwordless and upgrading to the latest operating system.
Microsoft is preparing for the future where AI will be the primary way users interact with Windows.
