YouTube has begun a crackdown on the usage of ad blockers and it is planning to limit access to the number of videos on YouTube you can view if you are using an ad blocker to bypass the ads.
YouTube is one of the top streaming services allowing you to stream free video content. The videos we see on YouTube are monetized in the way of YouTube ads that play before and in the middle of the video we watch. The number of ads playing each YouTube video depends on the creator and YouTube. To get rid of these ads, millions of users worldwide use ad-blocker extensions that take you directly to the video without the ads.
YouTube to limit video playback to only 3 videos – if you use an ad-blocker
Users on Reddit have noticed that when they visit YouTube with an ad-blocker to watch videos, they see a notification – Video Player will be blocked after 3 videos.
When we click a video to play on YouTube, we see multiple ads play before the video and in between the video, like ads on a television program. The multiple ads may annoy the users. It is solved by ad blockers that take you directly to the video. It costs a lot for YouTube in revenue because of not playing the ads. Not only YouTube but even the creator of the videos you watch also loses a good chunk of revenue on YouTube views.
To stop this, YouTube may decide to block the video player after 3 videos if you are using an ad blocker on YouTube.
Unlike other streaming platforms, YouTube still is free-to-use and watch content with ads. If you do not want to watch ads, you can get access to its YouTube Premium plan, which has a monthly subscription model. This allows YouTube to generate revenue even without ads and pay the creators their share of revenue.
