Microsoft Teams has announced several new features across areas such as meetings, calling, Microsoft 365 integrations, healthcare, security and compliance, and more. These features are supposed to enhance the overall experience and performance of Microsoft Teams.
New Microsoft Teams features announced
Microsoft Teams is now providing users with new Together Mode scenes to help them feel closer and connected. In its blog post, Microsoft wrote:
“Coming in October, breakout rooms will allow meeting organizers to split up meeting participants into smaller groups to facilitate brainstorming sessions or workgroup discussions. Presenters can choose to hop between breakout rooms, make announcements to all breakout rooms, and/or close the breakout rooms that then bring everybody back into the main meeting.”
In addition to new Together Mode scenes, Microsoft Teams is readying custom layouts, breakout rooms, meeting recap, and webinar registration and reporting. Custom layouts, meeting recap, and webinar features are coming to Teams later this year. Meanwhile, Breakout rooms will be available to users sometime next month.
In terms of Meeting room experience, Microsoft is bringing support for collaboration bars into the Teams Rooms product line. Meeting room users will also benefit from touchless meeting experiences, meeting room capacity notifications, Microsoft Teams Panels, etc. Businesses can soon deploy two Teams Rooms for free. It will soon be of FastTrack.
Microsoft Teams will also deliver new Calling experience and collaborative calling. Microsoft is expanding Calling Plan to more customers starting October 1, 2020.
As part of Microsoft 365 integrations, Teams users can access new wellbeing and productivity insights. New Teams wellbeing experience will soon users with a new Virtual Commute feature in the coming months. It will add a remote workday structure to help users get used to their routine.
Apart from the addition of virtual commute, other Microsoft 365 integrations include the SharePoint Homesite in Teams. Microsoft is also adding new features targeted at Firstline Workers in the form of Walkie Talkie Android, Integration between Teams and RealWear, and Shifts Connector in Power Automate.
