October 26, 2012 will be remembered as a day for multiple launch events and releases, Windows 8 being the biggest of ‘em all. Apart from Microsoft Surface tab, Microsoft has officially revealed that Xbox Music will deliver free streaming music on Windows 8 and Windows RT PCs and tablets in 15 markets from October 26, 2012.
Xbox Music is the upcoming digital music service by Microsoft replacing the erstwhile ‘Zune’ brand which ‘maybe’ largely discontinued giving way to its new sibling. Xbox Music boasts of a music library on par with Apple’s iTunes Store, Google’s Google Play and others where it gives the users the liberty to access millions of songs/albums/tracks from the Xbox Music Store. An Xbox Music Pass of US $9.99 per month will enable the user to get access to ad-free, unlimited playback of any song from the catalogue.
Having a broad base of products and services, Microsoft has plans to seamlessly integrate your Xbox Music experience with your Windows 8 PC, Windows 8 tablet, your Windows Phone 8 smartphone device and not-to-forget your personal TV connected with the Xbox 360 console. Users can simply create a playlist of their choice on their PC and later play the same from their tablet, Windows Phone 8 device or even from their TV while sitting on their sofa, thanks to the Xbox Music service being powered by the cloud.
I actually have a good feeling about Xbox Music, given its fresh new look, wide scope of usability and effortless integration with multiple devices. Hope Microsoft doesn’t end up treating it as it did with Zune.
October 16, 2012 will see the Xbox Music service being rolled out to Xbox consoles.
