Microsoft has finally decided to leverage Artificial Intelligence in order to enable better offline translation for the Translator app. Artificial Intelligence has been changing the way we communicate with the machines and also the way machines learn from our ways. Cortana has been a fine piece of example when it comes to artificial intelligence making things easier for us and now Microsoft has leveraged the technology to bring about some worthwhile improvements in the Translator App.
Microsoft Translator app to employ Artificial Intelligence
We had reviewed the Translator app couple of months ago and found it to be a great alternative when pegged against the Google Translate, however Microsoft is now equipping the translator with an AI engine for Android and a new image translation feature for the iOS. The iOS image translation feature uses Optical Character Recognition to decipher the letters and the words.
The best part of the new AI inclusion is the very fact that it will introduce a much stronger and reliable offline translation, the quality of which can be compared with the online translation.
The new AI feature will be the world’s first Deep Neural Network powered offline engine for Android. All you need to do is download language packs and get near online quality of translation.
Deep Neural technology has been around in the corner for quite some time and it is in fact a very clever inception og Machine learning technology which has been helping Microsoft Translator with high quality cloud based translations.
The bottom line is that by bringing the AI technology to the mobile devices Microsoft will be able to increase the quality of translations exponentially whilst ensuring that they don’t lose out on the quality front.
Microsoft has been doing a lot on the AI front and the Project Oxford API is something that is helping Microsoft nurture developers to bring out the best.
