Of late, Google Chrome is losing its importance to Microsoft Edge. As the software giant continues to challenge the search giant’s monopoly in the web browser business, Edge is emerging as a superior, more powerful alternative to Google Chrome.
Edge gets video-calling support, screenshot tool, etc.
Edge has announced a slew of new features like a built-in screenshot tool, support for more themes, and e-commerce features ahead of the holiday season. Most importantly, Edge is making a room for Skype to enable built-in video-calling support.
Built-in video-calling support in Edge
Similar to Windows 10 experimenting with built-in Skype video calling support without account sign-up requirements. Microsoft is bringing that similar functionality to Edge. As a result, Edge users will be able to find a dedicated Meet Now button on the new tab page.
Upon clicking Meet Now in Edge’s new tag page, Skype will create a video chat link, and up to 50 members can join the call without having to sign-up for the Skype account or download Skype client.
Edge’s Meet Now provides users with the support to share screens, chat with friends, and record sessions that last up to 24 hours, unlike Zoom with a 40-minute limit and Google Meet with a 60-minute limit.
Pretty soon, Microsoft Edge will start rolling out the Meet Now support.
PDF improvements in Edge
Microsoft Edge continues to improve the PDF experience. In a major update, Edge finally allows users to navigate through PDFs by clicking on the sections from the table of contents.
Built-in screenshot tool in Edge
Microsoft is making it easier to take screenshots while using the Edge web browser. Edge now has a built-in screenshot tool, allowing users to capture content from a webpage.
Edge users can also share the captured screenshots with others. Interestingly, Edge’s screenshot feature will also support automatic scrolling. This way, Edge users can capture everything you need in a single screenshot.
Edge simplifies e-commerce experience
Microsoft is making Edge e-commerce-ready ahead of the holiday season. For example, Edge is working to add a price comparison feature. It will allow Edge users to compare the price of a product they are searching for across retailers.
