The ongoing coronavirus outbreak is turning out to be catastrophic with each passing moment. With hundreds of thousands of cases around the world, major technology companies and individuals around the world have come together, helping each other fight against COVID-19 global pandemic and reduce the riks of infection. Now, the social networking giant Facebook has decided to contribute its share.
Facebook to support small businesses
Facebook wants to support small businesses during these challenging times. The company acknowledges small businesses contribute immensely to its growth. In her recent post, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg had this to say:
“Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities, and many of the people who run these businesses are heavily affected by the crisis – especially as more and more people sensibly stay home. The longer the crisis goes on, the greater the risk to small businesses and to the livelihoods of their owners and employees.”
Facebook has announced that the company is investing $100 million to support 30,000 small businesses in more than 30 countries.
Facebook launches Small Business Resource Hub
In addition to investing $100 million in small businesses, Facebook has launched a new web portal called Business Hub. It’s a resource hub from Facebook which provides users with material on “managing through and building resilience during the COVID-19 outbreak.”
Facebook has certain basic measures to share with small businesses, as follows:
- Keep yourself safe and informed
- Stay in touch with customers
- Try hosting online events
- Prepare a customer service plan
Meanwhile, Facebook is creating new virtual training to help businesses around the world operate in these challenging environments. Furthermore, Facebook says the company is exploring additional ways to host virtual training.
Facebook is providing small businesses with Small Business Resilience Toolkit to help them prepare for interruptions. Similarly, Facebook’s Quick-action guide is expected to help small businesses plan their emergency response and develop strategies to minimize downtime.
