Google is synonymous with web search. The search market share of Google commands is incomparable to that of other search engines. Google leads over others by a huge margin, whereas other search engines together do not have a quarter of the market share that Google has. Google search is now seeing drops in searches, whereas Bing is gaining the same both globally and in the U.S. market
Bing Search share increases by 2% at the cost of Google
Google is the gateway into the world of the internet to find what we want. However, due to several changes Google has been making in its algorithm, search results are not what users have been wanting. More results from the first page are from sites like Reddit, Quora, Medium, and forums – which offer only a discussion and not a solution.
Due to these recent happenings in the world of tech and the emergence of AI, Google seems to have lost some market share. Though Google is experimenting with various features in its search, Bing is gaining the lost market share of Google.
According to StatCounter which tracks search engine market share, Google has lost almost 2% of its global search market whereas Bing gained the 2% share lost by Google.
Google has almost over 80% of the search market whereas the rest of the search engines like Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, YANDEX, etc. settle with the remaining percentage. Microsoft has focused more on Bing and they have collaborated with OpenAI and implemented the ChatGPT capabilities in the search. With the recent updates in Google Search, it has become comparatively hard to find definitive answers to searches, Bing seems to have gained by providing what the user wants.
If you too notice that Google does not offer satisfactory search results, you should actually use Bing for a day and see the difference. Microsoft Edge browser even lets you search with multiple search engines at the same time.
Google is unbeatable with the amount of market share it has, but the small gain for Bing can be termed as a big one which has chances to gain more in the future.
