You may not find the security updates download link on Microsoft Download Center after May 10th. Microsoft has decided to discontinue their practice of publishing all the security updates on Microsoft Download Center. The security updates until now were published both on Microsoft Update Catalogue as well as the Microsoft Download Center.
As per the recent announcement made by Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), the security bulletins after May, 10, 2016, will be linked directly to the updates, but won’t be available for download on the Microsoft Download Center. Users will have to search for security updates on the Microsoft Update Catalogue or follow the links provided in the Security Bulletins.
The official post says,
“Updates have historically been published on both the Microsoft Download Center and the Microsoft Update Catalog and Security Bulletins linked directly to update packages on the Microsoft Download Center. Starting May 10, some updates will no longer be available from the Microsoft Download Center.”
Back in the month of May last year, Microsoft announced that they will ditch Patch Tuesday and adopt new security mechanisms embedded in Windows 10. The company, however, has nothing to say about the reason this sudden change in their security policy has taken place. Maybe Microsoft is working on some new policy for non-security updates.
So henceforth, Microsoft will no longer publish all the security updates on Microsoft Download Center.
