Visual Studio 2022 Private Preview for macOS launched
Visual Studio 2022 Private Preview for macOS marks the first release of its .NET IDE with a refreshed interface. Besides, it’s for the first time ever that Visual Studio supports 64-bit version and fully integrates with the macOS UI and fixes crashes.
Today we’re inviting you to try out Visual Studio 2022 for Mac as we share our first private preview release. This is the first release of our .NET IDE with a refreshed, fully native macOS UI. We’d love for you to download it, try it out, and share your feedback to help us shape the next major release of Visual Studio for Mac, wrote Jordan for Microsoft DevBlogs.
The application is designed to take advantage of more of macOS’s built-in accessibility features with a focus on some key technical internals.
While this update brings many new UI changes like a footer status bar, a new tab model for the documents/tool window, the major improvements are reserved for the accessibility groups, including support for new High Contrast themes and a more intuitive experience with VoiceOver.
Microsoft says the future developments in the app will bring a new preferences UI, a tool window drag and drop, and a Git branch selector in the status bar to give it a new look and feel. For now, the Visual Studio 2022 for Mac preview can be installed side-by-side with earlier versions of Visual Studio for Mac and is free to use.
