White House has blocked online access to Twitter. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs made the admission today, while acknowledging that he does not Twitter because the world knows enough already about what he’s doing. Gibbs clearly doesn’t appreciate the value that can be derived from the innovative social network; he jokes about it as if it is a tool for personal exhibitionism.
And the presidential spokesman says he doesn’t really know why the chief executive’s offices have blocked access to the popular social networking site. Maybe to avoid taxpayer-funded tweets that cost 140 characters.
Malcolm points out the irony in the White House having several official Twitter accounts, but blocking the service from its employees’ computers. Perhaps that’s why President Obama hasn’t been able to update very often since being elected.
