Yes it’s official now! Microsoft has announced the release date of Windows 10. Windows 10 will be available on July 29 in 190 countries. While it was known that Windows 10 would release this summer, the exact date was not known.

Terry Myerson in fact announced the date in a very interesting way. He said:
Today, I’m excited to share the availability date for Windows 10. In fact, I thought I’d let Cortana, the world’s most personal digital assistant, share the news. You can ask Cortana for the answer! There are over 4 million Windows Insiders testing Windows 10 and providing feedback. Taking this feedback into account, Microsoft has made great progress on Windows 10 and almost readied it, in order to deliver this free upgrade to Windows customers on time. We have, over time, seen some of the new features and, innovations in each of its build.We will soon start covering this new operating system in detail.
Said Microsoft while announcing the release date:
“…we will continue to update Windows 10 over time with new innovations to help you be more productive and have more fun. Like Windows 10 itself, these updates will be free for the supported lifetime of your device.”
Upgrade availability
Starting July 29, users can get Windows 10 for their PCs and tablets by taking advantage of free upgrade offer. New Windows 8.1 devices will also easily upgrade to Windows 10.

The Windows 10 upgrade is designed to be compatible with your current Windows device and applications*. We are hard at work to make this upgrade process a great experience. Look for this icon in your system tray at the bottom of your screen, simply click on the icon, and then complete the reservation process.”
