As Microsoft continues to expand the availability of Windows 10, version 2004 to more computers, Microsoft says it is starting a new phase in its rollout. As a result, we can now expect nearly all the existing Windows 10 computers running versions 1903 and 1909 to finally receive the most-awaited Windows 10 May 2020 update. All you need to do is manually check for updates via Windows Update Settings.
Install Windows 10 v2004 using Windows Update
“[As of July 22, 2020] Windows 10, version 2004 is available for users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909, who manually seek to “Check for updates” via Windows Update. We are now starting a new phase in our rollout,” Microsoft said.
Microsoft says it is increasing the number of Windows 10 devices to update automatically to version 2004, especially the ones that are approaching the end of service, courtesy of the company’s machine-learning-based training initiative.
“We will continue to train our machine learning through all phases to intelligently rollout new versions of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel,” Microsoft added.
How to get Windows 10 May 2020 Update
For now, Microsoft is limiting the availability of Windows 10 May 2020 to those computers running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909. The update will be available to those who manually check for the update via Windows Update settings.
- If you are ready to download and install the update, open your Windows Update settings.
- Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates.
- Once the update appears, you can select Download and install it.
Well, the process takes about 2 hours to complete the installation. You can also stop Windows 10 from upgrading to the next version and set the target Feature Update version.
Earlier this month, some users complained Microsoft was not letting them upgrade their Windows 10 operating system to version 2004 despite running Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909.
