Looks like Microsoft is slowly but steadily bringing changes to their internal office structure. First Steven Sinofsky decided to quit Microsoft and now a longtime executive Craig Mundie is leaving his current post of Chief Research and Strategy Officer – but he has been re-appointed as the Senior Advisor to CEO Steve Ballmer.
Craig used to work on key strategic projects within the company, as well as with government and business leaders around the world on technology policy, regulation and standards. But now most of his old duties will be shifted to Eric Rudder, who is the company’s Chief Technical Strategy Officer.
“In this role, he works on key strategic projects within the company, as well as with government and business leaders around the world on technology policy, regulation and standards,” Microsoft stated in an updated biography for Craig Mundie on the company’s website.
Over his career, Craig has brought great value to the groups and initiatives he has started and overseen and now brings that wealth of experience to his new role. Craig has also been instrumental in building relationships with governments and policymakers around the world, CEO Steve Ballmer stated in an email – reports ATD.
However, this move was announced internally in a memo on Dec. 14 from CEO Steve Ballmer, but was not publicized.
Craig Mundie, who is set to retire in 2014, when he turns 65, will now be working as Senior Advisor to CEO Steve Ballmer. As the designation tells itself that he will be advising Steve Ballmer in company’s crucial decisions.
