Bing search engine has just crossed 100 million users
Since Bing has been showing steady growth in recent years, reaching 100 million daily active Bing users is a big deal for the company. Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President & Consumer Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, wrote:
We are pleased to share that after a number of years of steady progress, and with a little bit of a boost from the million+ new Bing preview users, we have crossed 100M Daily Active Users of Bing. This is a surprisingly notable figure, and yet we are fully aware we remain a small, low, single digit share player. That said, it feels good to be at the dance!
Yusuf also shared the Bing engagement statistics on his official Twitter handle, @yusuf_i_mehdi.
- 45M total chats
- 1/3 of daily preview users Chat daily
- 1/3 of preview users are brand new to Bing
Microsoft says that they are not only seeing growth in new users but also seeing an increase in users’ engagement as more and more people are conducting daily searches on Bing. Microsoft also confirmed that 15 percent of chat sessions are used by people on Bing to generate new content.
In addition to this, Microsoft also confirmed that Bing usage on smartphones has also grown too. The new Bing app with Answers and Chat and voice input features has led to a 6 times increase in daily active users.
Microsoft will continue improving Bing and Edge in order to deliver the next generation of search and to maintain and increase its current user base.
