RapidShare has announced that with effect from 27th November 2012, it will move to a classic hosting model, that will see not only the storage space but also the traffic created being paid solely by the owner of the file.
RapidPro users will automatically get unlimited traffic for their own file downloads. Moreover, in addition to this, they will also get 30 GB public traffic per day. The recipients of your files have no download limitations whatsoever regardless of if they have RapidPro, a free account or no account at all! This move will thus benefit all the free users as there will now no longer be a download limit.
The day this new model goes live, RapidShare also plans to release the final version of RapidDrive 1.0 along with a completely revamped website.
RapidShare is one of the most popular Cloud Storage provider, although its popularity does appear to have decreased in recent times.
Will this change reflect in a drop in traffic … or an increase? That is yet to be seen.
