PRISM is a $20 million data collection program, where many US-based Internet companies like Google Facebook, Yahoo, PalTalk and other bigwigs like Apple and Microsoft have leaked their users information to the National Security Agency & FBI organization of the US government. Although most of these companies have denied their involvement, suspicion remains that they could still be passing on user data.
Raising concerns about this have prompted some to suggest alternate ways of working on and with your computers. A newly launched website Prism Break recommends alternate operating systems, software and services, which you could instead of your present one’s to avoid sending out information via PRISM.

For instance, instead of Apple OS X, Google Chrome OS or Microsoft Windows, the website offers options like using GNU/Linux Free, Debian, Fedora, Tails, Trisquel or BSD. It suggests that you dump Google, Bing or Yahoo Search and go with DuckDuckGo, Seeks Project, StartpagePrivate or YaCy – all anonymous, unlogged web searches.
