As part of Microsoft’s on-going commitment to help Teams users connect, they’ve introduced a new, interactive Yammer app called “Communities” that integrates the Yammer ‘Communities’ app into Microsoft Teams.
Teams announces new Yammer integration
In its blog post, Microsoft wrote:
“The new Yammer includes a fully interactive Yammer app called “Communities” that brings your communities and conversations directly into Microsoft Teams. Put simply, it’s Yammer—in Teams.”
That said, the new Yammer “Communities” app for Teams is now available to download from the Teams App Store. Yammer is Microsoft’s enterprise social network.
New Yammer integration allows Microsoft Teams users to stay updated with communities, participate in live events, among other things using the Yammer web or mobile apps.
How to install Yammer in Microsoft Teams
Yammer app called “Communities” can be located from the Teams App Store. The app can be installed by admins and users. Once installed, Yammer “Communities” can be pinned to the Teams app bar on the left.
Only IT admins can decide whether to deploy and pin the Yammer “Communities” app for all Teams users or not. IT admins can also configure custom policies to make the Yammer integration available to particular departments in the organization.
“We’ll continue to create a more seamless Yammer communities experience within Teams, including unifying notifications and search and bringing the Yammer app to Teams mobile.”
Earlier this month, Microsoft brought a major design overhaul to Yammer in terms of the app’s overall user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). The update was rolled out to Yammer’s Android and iOS apps.
Microsoft continues to witness a surge in the number of customers relying on its remote communication service — Teams — in the wake of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the last few weeks, Teams have significantly evolved in terms of capacity to handle the extra burden on the company’s remote communication service, credit goes to the work-from-home transition due to preventive lockdown and social distancing.
Microsoft Teams has also announced certain new additions and integration to its service, making the whole remote work experience a lot easier.
